This is The Liberty Vindicator's coverage of the game. The Pickett who played for the Middies was E.W. Pickett, who also wrote the article and was for many years The Vindicator's "Sporting Editor."

Spend enough time at the Sam Houston Regional Library and Research Center on FM 1011 in Liberty and you will eventually run across items that seem to defy explanation, that is, unless you know where to look.

The place to find a partial explanation for this photograph of nearly two dozen Liberty men in drag is in the July 23, 1915 edition of The Liberty Vindicator.

The previous Friday they had played a baseball game as the Middy Blouses against the Pinafores, and the Pinafores won.

Left our of the Vindicator’s coverage of the game was any explanation for why they did this.

Maybe they didn’t need a reason.
