Hardin cleaning up at Anahuac
After falling to Clear Brook, 8-6, earlier in the day, the Dayton Lady Broncos beat the Crosby Lady Cougars, 7-2, at the Crosby Tournament this afternoon. The Lady Coogs then fell to Channelview, 4-1.
At the Anahuac Softball Tournament today the Hardin Lady Hornets shut out Westbury, 5-0, in a four inning game and then Sabine Pass, 15-0, in a game that went only three innings. Yesterday, they beat Kelly Catholic by 15-5 and East Chambers, 9-1.
In their first day at the Katy Tournament, the Liberty Lady Panthers took a 5-0 loss to Barbers Hill.
Dayton’s Paige Lott got a solo home run in the top of the sixth against Crosby.
First up to bat in the first inning, Amanda Carden hit a triple with a liner to left field, then made home on a single by Kloee Wells.
Crosby moved ahead in the bottom of the third when Hannah Wiggins singled, made second on an error, made third on a single by Trista Brown and then scored on Brooke Kuritz’s single.
Brown advanced to third and Kuritz to second when Heather Harrison went to first with a bruise.
Brown was put out trying for home, but then Kuritz scored on Cece Pace’s grounder to third, putting Crosby up, 2-1.
Lott’s homer tied it up 2-2 in the sixth, then the Lady Broncos went to town in the top of the seventh with singles from Kenzie Kimbro and Carden, and doubles from Haylie Burns and Wells.
Fabianna Cadelari had the circle for Dayton and threw for 6 strikeouts. Pace pitched for Crosby and struck out 7 batters.
